FAQs

How do I take Homeopathic medicines/ remedies?
Homeopathic medicine works best if taken separately from food and drinks, by at least 20 minutes. Dry pellets of the medicine can be placed directly under the tongue where they dissolve within a few seconds. In some cases, homeopathic remedies may be diluted in water as directed by the practitioner.
How do I store Homeopathic medicines/ remedies?
Homeopathic medicines should not be stored under direct light or in extreme temperatures. They also should be kept away from strong odors – perfumes, spices, chemicals, etc. They should not be stored near computers, phones, routers and other electronics as those devices might interfere with the effectiveness of the medicines.
What is considered a dose of the remedy?
Depending on the different manufacturers, the number of pellets in each dose will vary. For example, for remedies produced and packaged by Boiron that generally have larger pellets, 3 pellets is considered a dose. With other manufacturers, the number of pellets in a dose will vary. Check with your practitioner for exact instructions on dosage, which will also depend on the pharmacy where you are obtaining your medicines.
Can homeopathic medicines be taken with other drugs?
Homeopathic medicines can be taken alongside other medications and generally do not interfere with them. Homeopathic medicines are prepared in potentized form, which is very different from allopathic medicines which are taken in raw or crude form. It is important for your homeopathic practitioner to know what allopathic medications you are taking in order to evaluate how they are affecting you.
How often do I need to come for follow ups?
Clients like to come for follow ups every 4-6 weeks to evaluate their progress and to find out next steps in their treatment. However, it depends entirely on the client how often they want to be seen – it can range from every 2 weeks to every 3-4 months or less frequently if they are doing well.
What if I get an aggravation?
If you have a reaction as a result of taking homeopathic medicine, please, contact me to decide the next steps in your individual case. Aggravations are not common but they can happen, and they are not necessarily a bad sign if they are temporary and don’t affect you much. For example, old symptoms from the past may reappear as your body is bringing them to the surface in order to heal them. This is an example of a reaction that is part of the healing journey.
How are homeopathic medicines different from vitamins, supplements, essential oils, etc.?
If you go to a naturopath, you may get prescribed supplements, or herbs. If you meet with a nutritionist, you would be recommended a certain diet, along with vitamins and minerals. All of these are great recommendations and can be taken along with homeopathy. The word “homeopathy” has the prefix “home” in it, so it may give you the impression that it is the same as home remedies, food supplements, and herbs, but it does not include any of these modalities. Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine within itself and uses its own class of potentized medicines. It has a curative effect on a deep level affecting the mental, emotional and physical spheres.
